Monday, September 18, 2006 Gentlemen, An obituary notice for Airemale? Sheesh, let's hope not! We were dangerously close to publishing one last week when only 6 of us showed up for rehearsal. It wouldn't have taken much to see us implode! BUT ... (and I'm almost afraid to sound optimistic, sadly) ... we guys do have an immediate challenge, this week, to which we must respond ! It will require extra effort from each of us, and some quick schedule changes may be necessary. We are committed - to record two songs for a special CD this week, for one of Downey Avenue's members, author Gene Brown. All the other materials related to this are ready for publication ... they just need our sound. Gene had asked for Airemale, specifically, to be involved in his project. It's an opportunity to become part of something lasting, to share with others for years to come. Such opps usually don't fall into your lap like this. There's a recording session scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM, at a studio near Spencer in Owen County. (And if this date cannot work, there's one final alternate possibility - on the following Sunday, October 1.) We can work out car-pooling & transportation at rehearsal tomorrow night. The important thing right now is - to get to this rehearsal - for some crash-learning. Sure, it'll be like we're cramming for a test. If we can just focus on this one job for now, doing "whatever it takes", we'll pick up the pieces afterward. Yes, keeping us together may be our next challenge, but for now we need to jell quickly, to salvage a moment. Surely our Director should not have to face the decision and embarrassment of having to back out at the last minute because his guys "couldn't work it in". Please, guys, let's assemble and go to work tomorrow night! Joe -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I apologize for the continued inability to count on me from on week to the next; I wish I could control these "episodes". Another twist has been thrown at me: am suffering with an attack of gout!!!! Until this am I was unable to even put a sock on my foot because of pain and swelling. Much better to day, If I have a flare-up I'll need a lift tomorrow because I won't be able to push the gas pedal. I'll drop a line tomorrow to let you all know my status. I don't know what other folks might have going on this coming weekend.. but we've had a trip planned for about a year, that is basically impossible to change at this point. If there was any way we *could* do Oct 1, it would be a huge help for me. Message-ID: Hello - At this time, the 24th is best for me. I am going to be out of town on Oct. 1st, but if we can do it about 4pm, I can be there. As far as I know, Paul is good for either day. If that changes, he will let you all know tonight at rehearsal. I, unfortunately, cannot be there tonight due a work commitment. Yes, I am playing golf, but with my boss and a customer. I am sure that Paul will let me know what is going on and I will be ready on saturday. Regarding the "obituary of Airemale", it is my feeling that unless we have something to rehearse for, it is very difficult to get up to practice. There has to be more than just a Christmas concert at Oldenburg for us to do. There have been several places mentioned that we could perform and where the crowd would be thrilled to have us. We may not be the best singers in the world, but we won't be singing where we will be judged, either. I feel we should be doing this for fun and to share the gifts that we have, not to show what great singers and performers we might or might not be. Sorry, but I am rambling. Please think about that. If we are going to continue, I vote that we get some music that is fun to sing (secular and sacred) and easy for an audience to listen to. We should not try to be a big fancy church choir, but a group of guys who like to sing and have fun doing it. I am off the soapbox. pat hogan >From: "Davis, Jim " >Reply-To: Aire-Male Vocal Group maillist >To: "Aire-Male Vocal Group maillist" >Subject: RE: [Airemale] Fw: Airemale obituary? >Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2006 18:38:10 -0400 > >I can do either date > >JIM > >________________________________ > >From: airemale-bounces@airemale.com on behalf of Steve Spicklemire >Sent: Mon 9/18/2006 4:49 PM >To: Aire-Male Vocal Group maillist >Cc: Steve Spicklemire >Subject: Re: [Airemale] Fw: Airemale obituary? > > > >Hi Guys, > >On Sep 18, 2006, at 12:47 PM, Joseph Leamon wrote: > > > > > There's a recording session scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 3:00 > > PM, at a studio near Spencer in Owen County.
