DisciplesWorld Rep Newsletter
April 2002

Hello and welcome to the first DisciplesWorld Rep Newsletter. When we
started the DisciplesWorld Rep Program we envisioned sending out a
newsletter every so often to touch base with you, share news of the magazin=
e
and share news of other Reps. This first newsletter is longer than I had
hoped.=20

But first, we=B9d like to thank you all for your tremendous efforts on behalf
of DisciplesWorld magazine. We can=B9t say enough about how important your
role as a DisciplesWorld Rep is. Since we operate on very tight budgets,
your help in promoting DisciplesWorld magazine and selling subscriptions to
your congregation helps us stretch our marketing dollars further. Through
your efforts, we are able to reach more people in a more meaningful way tha=
n
we could ever reach through direct mail campaigns alone. Thank you for you=
r
active support of the magazine.

1) Subscription Rate Change Announced: In March, the magazine made the
decision to increase the subscription rates for both individual and bulk
rates. All reps were sent new rate labels to adjust their marketing materia=
l
(brochures and subscription pads.) If by chance you did not receive your
labels, please contact Mary Breidenbach at marketing@disciplesworld.com.

The new rates are as follows.
Individual subscriptions: 1-year =3D $25; 2-year =3D $44; 3-year =3D $60
Bulk Subscriptions: 10-19 copies =3D $20 each; 20+ copies =3D $15 each

The old rates were the initial rates that DisciplesWorld magazine used for
the first two-years of publication. (These rates were, in fact, the rates
that the =B3The Disciple=B2 magazine had in place when they ceased publishing.)
While we intend to keep the magazine as affordable as possible, the rate
increase was financially necessary at this time.

2) Regional Assemblies: DisciplesWorld will be present at all Regional
Assemblies in 2004. Since we can=B9t afford to send staff to each Assembly, w=
e
are looking for DisciplesWorld Reps to staff the booth and promote the
magazine at the Assemblies. If you are interested in attending your assembl=
y
and representing DisciplesWorld, please let us know. Email
marketing@disciplesworld.com with your interest. We will be happy to pay fo=
r
your registration and will provide all marketing material for your efforts.
In addition, if you sell subscriptions at the assembly, you can utilize you=
r
Rep benefit of receiving a free one-year subscription when you sell ten
individual subscriptions.

A big THANK YOU to the Reps who have volunteered so far:
-Rev. Tom Shifflett (and friends) of First Christian Church of Chico,
California agreed to represent the magazine at the California, Northern
Nevada Regional Assembly.
=ADMelba Lacey, Memorial Christian Church of Ann Arbor, MI and Jean O=B9Brien,
First Christian Church of Manton, MI will be attending the Michigan Regiona=
l
Assembly for the magazine.

3) Themes of Upcoming Issues:
May 2004: Presidential Elections
June 2004: Leadership Development
July/August 2004: Disciples Identity (results of Identity Survey discussed)

4) Promotion Idea: One promotional idea that we are promoting and have
heard promoted from other DisciplesWorld Reps is the idea of asking your
congregation to give a one-year subscription to new member households of th=
e
congregation. You could provide your congregation an easy way to place thos=
e
subscriptions and keep them on top of this task.

Giving a gift subscription of DisciplesWorld to new members can helps
introduce the structure and activities of the Christian Church (Disciples o=
f
Christ) as well as nurture their interest and participation in your
congregation. Inevitably, this gift is a gesture of appreciation and shows
a desire for the new members to be a vital role in your congregation. If
you think this may be of interest to your congregation, we encourage you to
discuss this with your pastor.

5) DisciplesWorld Magazine Turns Two! =AD We are happy to announce that we
have just completed our second year in publication and are looking forward
to many more years to come. In this coming year we are planning to add some
new features that we hope you=B9ll like.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need additional supplies. W=
e
appreciate all your efforts and want to support you as best we can.

Mary Breidenbach
Director of Marketing

Thank you so much for the email, although I have not recieved anything to this point from you at all, either on the new price list, or how to go about getting a new packet for pamphlets and an order form. I really need these things. I am considering attending our Regional Assembly in Johnstown this summer, but we have not put the final plans out yet. If not I, myself, I will certainly try to get someone to work a booth if you will have one.

Thank You, Crystal Lynn Wilson
