Mary From maryp at iupui.edu Tue Nov 23 10:26:40 2004 From: maryp at iupui.edu (Mary Pietrowicz) Date: Tue Nov 23 11:27:11 2004 Subject: [Hecdev] New USDA database available Message-ID: <5.1.1.6.0.20041123100201.0321eec0@magiclamp.org> Hi, I put a new version of the USDA database (sr17) up on 149.166.150.212, along with the extensions to the USDA database and the rfid tables. It's in a new database "rfid_foods_3_0". The older versions of the database are as they were. Nothing changed in the rfid tables, but the USDA database did have some changes. There will be some software changes needed to use the updated USDA database, but the changes should be small. Some of the things I noticed: 1) More nutrients in the abbreviated database (usda_food_abbr), including sugar! 2) Nutrients listed in a different order in usda_food_abbr, and some column name changes. 3) More foods. 4) Changes to nutrients in nutr_def. 5) Some column name changes throughout, e.g., "Full_Desc" changed to "Long_Desc" and "Comm_Name" changed to "Com_Name" in food_des. 6) New table added DATASRCLN I changed the format of the tables that support USDA extensions to mirror sr17, as we did with earlier versions. This way - fewer query constructs to pull data out of the different tables. I will use the old database for our current foods and the new database for the new foods.
